They're Back!

After a bit of Facebook and Instagram intelligence, I set the alarm for 5:00am and was out the door by 5:30 am so I could be at Rye Harbor, NH by sunrise yesterday.  It sure was worth the effort!!

Last year, the U.S. had a huge Snowy Owl irruption and I was spending a lot of my spare time dashing off to the coast to see these spectacular birds!!  This year, not nearly as many, but there are a few making regular appearances on the New England coast.  What better way to start the new year!?

  1. With how gorgeous that sunrise picture is, I bet in person it was 10x more stunning. Owls are such amazing birds. We have barn owls and great horned owls here. I love to listen to them calling back and forth to each other. Those snowy owls have such a presence, You are so lucky to be able to see them in person.

  2. I'm hoping to get to Plymouth on Monday morning but not sure I will have any luck doing it for sunrise. One of my friends saw a snowy near Long Beach, a week or so ago, so I'm hoping to see one too. But she's also an early riser.

  4. Awesome Amy! The sunrise photo is gorgeous and the owls are beautiful. I think we need to make a bead-it-forward square with one of the owls on it. What do you think?

  6. I remember your search for the Snowy Owls last year. Great pictures! I though I might have seen one yesterday by the highway, but it was more likely to have been one of our local hawks with a barred breast.
