Blogging from A-Z • Z

Today is brought to you by the letter "Z"!

(Disclaimer: Although this is typically a blog about my beadwork, I do let other parts of my life seep into this blog.  Food and beverage is a huge part of my life as I am the marketing director of a fantastic restaurant group!)

Z is for zucchini!

Oh yes, we had plenty of zucchini on the farm last year, and it would show up frequently on weekly farm-to-fork specials!

But before we get to the zucchini as food, I want to say THANK YOU to all the faithfuls that visited my blog this month to see what food or beverage I would be blogging about.  You all really lift me up with your visits and comments!!  Thank you for making this challenge so much fun!

So without further ado....here is some zucchini!

And finally....have you ever heard of the game Scattergories?  That is one of my favorite board games, even though I almost always lose.  Basically you have a sheet of paper with 12 categories, and you roll a 26 sided alphabet die, and you need to come up with a person, place or thing that fits the category that starts with the letter you just rolled.  You get two points if you come up with a person place or thing that has two words that start with the assigned letter.  So with that, I'd like to finish with a two pointer.  This was a cocktail we featured last summer....called the Zambezi Zinger!

So that concludes the 2016 Blogging from A-Z Challenge!  I'll be back soon with some beading update!  Thank you again to everyone who visited!!

Blogging from A-Z • Y

Today is brought to you by the letter "Y"!

(Disclaimer: Although this is typically a blog about my beadwork, I do let other parts of my life seep into this blog.  Food and beverage is a huge part of my life as I am the marketing director of a fantastic restaurant group!)

Y is for yams and yogurt!

We're in the final stretch and these letters are more and more difficult as we hone in on the end of the alphabet.

The only two foods I could think of that start with Y are yams and yogurt.  Neither of which are very popular ingredients on our menus! However, purple yams were on our menu as a puree in this tuna dish!

And periodically our chefs use a yogurt as a garnish for soups or in a sauce for salads!

xanthic

[zan-thik]

adjective
1.
of or relating to a yellow or yellowish color.

X is historically a difficult letter in the A-Z challenge! I feel a little bit like a cheater because this isn't the first time in my Blogging from A-Z history I have used this word to get through this letter! But I couldn't think of a food or beverage that began with X so you are stuck with this xanthic colored cocktails!

U is for Underberg!

What is Underberg, you ask?  It is a German herbal bitters or 'digestif'!  If you google it, you will see there is quite a bit of chatter about it on the internet.  Since we have 'craft cocktail' programs at all the restaurants I work at, it has made an appearance here & there....
Yes...that is, in fact, an Underberg belt....difficult to obtain, but kinda awesome to wear!

The bartenders made this fun cocktail to highlight the aromatic additive!
